Day 06 - Friday 03/08/24 - At Sea to Galveston - Day 1
We have two sea days on our way back to Galveston. We took advantage of this to sleep in before enjoying a leisurely breakfast in the Horizon Court buffet. Fred the Astronomer gave two enrichment talks today. The first one this morning was on the stars (Cruising Through the Cosmos) and other items beyond our galaxy and it was really interesting. My big takeaway was how using light spectrums one can determine the chemical composition of items without having a physical sample to test. He's passionate about his astronomy topics and is a very good presenter. In the afternoon, he spoke on the history of telescopes, and it, too, was super interesting. We also took the opportunity to enjoy a pizza lunch at Alfredo's.
The evening entertainment was the performance of the stage show, Fiera, which was an elaborate musical set in a circus theme. The costuming was spectacular and super colorful, and it was a very nice show. Tomorrow, the singers and dancers are performing a 3rd stage show centered around dance. After the show we watched a comedian, John Wesley Austin in the Vista Lounge in the aft part of the ship. He was pretty funny and kept it clean.
Since tomorrow is the last day of the cruise, we decided to do laundry. While it was being washed and dried, we streamed the latest episode of the Curse of Oak Island. Interestingly, they used some of the principles we have learned from the astronomy talks to date the construction of some geographic features on Oak Island.
We received our luggage tags today, and have a late departure time at 8:50am on Sunday. We'll then continue our trip with the land portion.
